Previously, players could just go ahead and research technology to improve and advance their empire. One of the largest differences between Age of Empires 4 and the prior games is the way players advance through the Ages. For example, the Mongols have the ability to move their buildings, but the mechanics of the English and French will remain very traditional to that of prior games.
